Becoming great

Job 5:8-9
“I would seek unto God, and unto God would I commit my cause: Which doeth great things and unsearchable; marvellous things without number.”

Friends, God wants to do great things in your life this year irrespective of where you at right now. I want to remind you of a story in 2Kings chapter 6. It is the story of how God used some lepers to turn around a situation of famine in Samaria. Things were so bad in that land that they were eating dove’s dung and asses’ head which were very expensive to get. Where they don’t get those things to eat, they were eating their children.

That is how bad things were. (I am sure
things are not that bad with you). God now gave a word that by the next day, food that was not available at all will be in abundance so much that it will be sold cheaply.  This can only be done by a God who can do great things. The Bible says He makes things out of nothing, makes water to flow in the wilderness and pastures to spring out of the wilderness.

How did God bring this to pass? The Scripture says, He uses the things that are base, that are nothing to bring to nothing the things or people that are something or somebodies.

The Scripture says there were four lepers at the gate of Samaria.

You know why they were at the gates in the first place, because they are not allowed to come into the city and mix with the people. They decided to go to the camp of the enemy whether they would have pity on them and give them food.

And as they went, the Bible said the enemy heard as though a greater army than theirs was coming against them and so they fled so that by the time the lepers got there, what they saw was an empty camp filled with all manner of goodies. These lepers that should not mix with people became the bearer of good news to the nation, and by them the word of the Lord was fulfilled to a nation.

When you throw yourself at the mercy of God as we saw in our meditation yesterday, He will make you to become great. Where you are at the beginning of this year is not indicative of where you will be at the end. Trust this God who can do great things.
