The goodness of the Lord

Jeremiah 9:23-24

“Thus saith the Lord, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the Lord which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the Lord.” KJV

So where do you go to know the character of God? Exodus 34:5-7 says:

Exodus 34:5-7

“And the Lord descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the Lord. And the Lord passed by before him, and proclaimed, The Lord, The Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, 

Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.” KJV

The Scripture above shows us His character, Goodness and Truth. Also He is Gracious , Merciful and has longsuffering. Let us take a look at the His goodness, one of the things that I believe a lot of people are not fully persuaded of. God is absolutely a good God.

Psalm 31:19

“Oh, how great is Your goodness, which You have laid up for those who fear, revere, and worship You, goodness which You have wrought for those who trust and take refuge in You before the sons of men!” AMP

Psalm 21:3

“For thou preventest him with the blessings of goodness: thou settest a crown of pure gold on his head.” KJV

Psalm 33:5

“He loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness of the Lord.” KJV

Psalm 27:13

“I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.” KJV

There are more I could give you to convince you about the goodness of the Lord and how important that you believe in it absolutely. David said the reason he did not faint was because he believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. When you know Him as the good God, you too would be able to believe like that.
