The gift of faith

Hebrews 11:1
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

The gift of faith is given at the discretion of the Holy Spirit in a specific situation to meet a specific need. It is not yours to control or command, it is not intended to satisfy man’s personal whims.

It is made available at God’s discretion to accomplish ends that originate in God’s eternal purposes. It is said when this gift
is in operation, a man becomes, for a time the channel of God’s own faith and acts like God. It’s operation at times is passive in appearance, like Peter sleeping soundly on the eve of his been put to death or Daniel sleeping in the den of lions overnight.

At other times, it is released also through the spoken words, like Elijah announcing the suspension of rains or Joshua holding the sun in place till the battle was won. The good news is that the believer’s life is not dependent on this type of faith and so you are not expected to wait on this gift before doing anything in God or receiving anything.

Do not worry either, whatever you have need of, the faith to live by is sufficient to deliver the goods.
