Three pillars of marriage

1 Corinthians 13:13

“And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.”

I believe that this verse describes to us the three pillars upon which a good and lasting marriage is built. Everybody understands that love is needed for marriage to continue so I want to bring the aspect of faith and consequently
hope and how these two things will keep a marriage steady and enjoyable.

Let us begin with hope. The bible calls hope the helmet of salvation. The function of the helmet is to protect the head or our thoughts. When you can keep from having distracting thoughts, and there will be many that will come against your mind, and you can keep your thoughts focused on your spouse, your love for him or her will be steady and wholesome. For the Scriptures say if thine eye be single thine whole body shall be full of light.
This is because, one of the reasons people begin to have divided minds in marriage is when they begin to think the can have it better with someone else, or focusing on the beauty or handsomeness of another person other than their spouse. You see hope purifies and hope maketh not ashamed.
