Faith is the foundation

Habakkuk 2:4

“Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.”

We are still examining why the subject of faith and living by it is important to the believer.

Sixthly, the Scriptures say we walk by faith, stand by faith and we are to resist the devil steadfast in the faith. (2Corinthians 5:7; 1:24 and 1Peter 5:8) Another reason is that you cannot get your prayers answered without faith and Jesus said when He comes back again He will be looking for faith in people. 

Also, according to 2Peter 1:5, faith is the foundation upon which other Christian virtues are built. Therefore if the foundation is not in place, all other things built on it will be shaky. In addition to that is that, faith gives covering to the believer’s armour. Ephesians 6:16 says, “above all take the shield of faith…” 

Lastly, the Scriptures say that it is only through faith that the righteousness of God can be revealed to the believer from start to finish. (Romans 1:17) What is the righteousness of God? It is His rightness, His right standing. It is not surprising then that people who do not appreciate the message of faith do not have balanced understanding of God.
