The power of agreement

Matt. 18:18-20 “Verily I say unto you, whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.  Again I say unto you, that if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.  For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.”

It is important to know the power that is involved in coming together to do things, in the congregation of the house of God. When we come together to permit or agree on something it shall be done. Amongst other things it also shortens the time of waiting for manifestation. What does it mean to agree? It means to be
as one, especially regarding a matter of opinion.

I Cor.1:10 “Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.”
When people do not agree what happens?
Matt. 12:25 “And knowing their thoughts, He said to them, any kingdom that is divided against itself is being brought to desolation and laid waste and no city or house divided against itself will last or continue to stand” (Amp.)

The effects of disagreement, strife and the likes of them are not instant but gradual, when there is no agreement in a house, then it is like nothing has been accomplished.
James 3:16 “For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.  But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.”
There is need for adjustment in order to come into harmony or agreement. One of the ways to know that an opinion is from above is when it is peaceable and easily adjusted.
Deut. 32:30 “How should one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, except their Rock had sold them, and the LORD had shut them up?

When you have someone who agrees with you, you should use it to your advantage because it makes things easier but if you find yourself in an environment of disagreement, move out of it so as not to hinder what God wants to do in your life.
Eccl.4:9 “Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour.”
Vs.12 “…And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.”

When two people come together concerning a matter, it gets accomplished faster. In marriages especially, husband and wife should make use of the privilege that comes from being together to agree concerning a matter, because together they will get a better and faster result. Living in an atmosphere of disagreement and strife will hinder your faith. Don’t permit such atmosphere around you. Get it out or you get out of it.
