Luke
13:10
“And he
was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath. And, behold, there
was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed
together, and could in no wise lift up herself. And when Jesus saw her, he
called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine
infirmity. And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was
made straight, and glorified God.”
The bible says this woman was bowed down,
bent over completely, so much that she could not even look up or lift up
herself, in other words she was cast down. Jesus said “Woman, you are loosed
from your infirmity” these words of Jesus had power and was enough to heal her,
but then the bible says He laid hands on her
and immediately she was made straight (she could look upwards. Amp) This woman
could not help herself; she needed the divine hand of God to lift her up.
Ps. 18 vs. 35 “Thou
hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy right hand hath holden
me up, and thy gentleness hath made me great. Thou hast enlarged my steps
under §me that my feet did not slip.
If our feet slips we fall, but God’s hand
holds us up, His hand will come into play and make things happen so that, what
would ordinarily cause a casting down would not affect us, instead of slipping,
we will be standing strong.
Why are we going to experience this
lifting? In Lk.13 vs. 14 “And the ruler
of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on
the sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men
ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath
day. The Lord then answered him, and said, Thou hypocrite, doth not each one of
you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to
watering? And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham,
whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on
the sabbath day?
