The fear of God

Heb 11:7
“By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.”

The one who lives by faith fears God. How is faith connected to the fear of God? This is not the negative kind of fear but the positive
one, this is the reverential type of fear, the one that holds God in reverence and awe.

The scripture says the fear of God is strong confidence. (Proverbs 14:26) Another translation says, “The fear of God builds up confidence…” (MSG). The fear of God will draw a person near to God, and in that relationship arise a knowing of God that gives you an assurance about God, so that when even you do not understand, still obey Him because you know Him. This is what happened to Noah.

When he received word about the flood, though not seen, the fear he had for God could not make Him do otherwise. It is a fear that arose from the awesomeness of God. Some faith actions you would undertake would be more out of the fear of God than your faith, this is because the situation totally is way out of your domain.

The other thing is that the fear of God will give you boldness to enter the presence of God and receive an answer to your heart’s desire. Noah is testifying that you might not have seen anything but let the awesomeness of God guide and lead, you can be sure you will be safe.

CONFESSION: I know my God is able.
