Romans 4:16-21
“Therefore
it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure
to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which
is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all, (As it is
written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he
believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be
not as though they were.
Who against hope believed in hope, that he
might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So
shall thy seed be. And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body
now dead, when he was about a hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of
Sara's womb: He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but
was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that, what
he had promised, he was able also to perform.”
For the next few days we will be
meditating on the above Scriptures to study the faith of Abraham. The first
thing we see was that Abraham had both natural and supernatural hope. Faith is
actually the substance of things HOPED for.
That means without hope, faith has nothing
to give substance to. This is like trying to score a goal in a football match,
without goal posts. Abraham did not just stop at having natural hope, everybody
can have natural hope and everybody does live on natural hope, but what happens
when you come to the end of your “rope” as they say. This is where a person of
faith differs, you latch unto the supernatural hope, “…who against hope
believed in hope…”
This is what you have to do too when you
come to the end of natural hope, still reach out to the supernatural. When you
are told that it's not naturally feasible for a particular thing to happen to
you, don’t give up because that is the perfect opportunity for the supernatural
to take over.
CONFESSION: I WILL WAIT FOR MY APPOINTED
TIME UNTIL MY CHANGE COMES.
