Heb 11:6
“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for
he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder
of them that diligently seek him.”
Faith has what I call a baseline, by which one can determine if you
are in faith or not. Our text for today reveals that the faith that pleases God
is this that you believe that God is a rewarder of them that diligently seek
Him.
This means if you do not believe God is
a rewarder, you are not operating
in the faith that pleases God. What does it mean that God is a rewarder? Simply
put, it means being with God or serving God will bring profit to your life,
will improve you, do you good and add to you. Now you have to have that settled
in your heart.
The other side of not having that settled is that you will say
things like God made me sick to teach me a lesson or God took my loved one
away, etc. Or say like Job outrightly:
“What man is like Job, who
drinketh up scorning like water? Which goeth in company with the workers of
iniquity, and walketh with wicked men. For he hath said, It profiteth a man
nothing that he should delight himself with God.” (Job 34:7-9)
Let me
bring it home to you. Maybe you have said things like, “since I came to know
Christ my life has gone from good to bad, bad to worse”. Such statements will
put out of sync with God. You see, you have a choice about coming to God, but
when you come, you MUST believe that He is a rewarder of them that diligently
seek Him. Anything less will put you outside of faith.
CONFESSION: GOD IS MY REWARDER AND MY EXCEEDING GREAT REWARD. I WILL NOT SERVE GOD IN VAIN.
MY LABOUR OF LOVE SHALL BE REWARDED.
