Rom 4:19
“And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body
now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of
Sara's womb.”
There is nothing that weakens faith as
much as fixation on contrary evidence to what you desire. Contrary evidence
will always be with you, by that I mean when you start out believing God for a
particular thing, the situation around you would not have changed.
When Jesus cursed the fig tree, the
scriptures said they went past it on their return and nothing had changed, cos
if it had, Peter would have spoken up. It was when they passed
by it the following day that what Jesus said manifested for everyone to see. So
what do you do at such moments? Don’t consider the contrary evidence; keep your
focus on the word.
“My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.
Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.”
Prov 4:20-21
To keep your faith from weakening, you
have to obey the above verse. If you are not going to consider the symptoms, or
empty pocket or bank account, there must be something you must be looking at,
that is, the word of God. Faith must have something to hold unto to remain
strong. The word of God is faith’s evidence.
