2 Kings 5:1-3
“Now Naaman, captain of the host of the king of Syria, was a great man with his master, and honourable, because by him the Lord had given deliverance unto Syria: he was also a mighty man in valour, but he was a leper. And the Syrians had gone out by companies, and had brought away captive out of the land of Israel a little maid; and she waited on Naaman's wife. And she said unto her mistress, Would God my lord were with the prophet that is in Samaria! for he would recover him of his leprosy.”
I have examined the faith of some unsung heroines in the Scriptures in time past but left out this little one which is also worth examining. Many sermons have been preached on Naaman’s healing but someone’s faith in God and boldness brought it about, that of a little girl in a strange land.
But we can see from this is that she was a girl who knew the God of her fathers and who had faith and confidence in Him even though she was in captivity. Some people allow the situation they are in to affect their faith in God, simply because they are in an unpleasant situation, their faith in God becomes shaken and they become uncertain about the ability of God to deliver, save, heal and bless. Not so with this little girl. Listen friend, your circumstance does not make or unmake God, let God be true but everyman or circumstance a liar.
God is still God, irrespective of the circumstance surrounding your life. God’s word is true whether you experience it or not. When we accept the finality of God’s word irrespective of how we feel or what our circumstance is then His word can change us to become what He has said concerning us.
The second thing we see about this little girl is her boldness. She was a maid, but she was not afraid to speak to her mistress about her God and His prophet knowing fully well that they serve a heathen God in that land.
Don’t let be intimidated about people around you that you cannot boast about what your God can do and neither allow your present circumstance to make you doubt what you know about your God and what He can do.
“So we don't look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.” (2 Corinthians 4:18 NLT)
