“And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets: Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.”
Let us continue with the three Hebrew children, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. We saw yesterday that their faith was in the person of God, His character not just in His ability. What I want you to see today is that faith in God always bring the victory, it is never late. People capitulate when they feel pressured or when it looks as though they will be thrown into the fire and God has not come through or manifestation has not taken place.
“Then was Nebuchadnezzar full of fury, and the form of his visage was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego: therefore he spake, and commanded that they should heat the furnace one seven times more than it was wont to be heated. And he commanded the most mighty men that were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace. Then these men were bound in their coats, their hosen, and their hats, and their other garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.” Daniel 3:19-21
When they maintained their stand the furnace was heated up seven more times. Listen, the closer you are to victory the greater the pressure, the greater the heat. I like what the late Oral Roberts said, if you don’t bow you won’t burn. Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego did not give in to the heat and they got thrown into the fiery furnace but God was waiting for them there. Sometimes, that is where He waits for us, in the fire itself or in the lion’s den, and until we get there before we see Him show up.
“And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace. Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonied, and rose up in haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellors, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king. He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.” Dan 3:23-25
As those three Hebrew children came through that experience and were instead favoured and promoted so will it be for you too in Jesus name. Do not fear the waters and the fire, the God you serve made them all and He has said:
“But now thus saith the Lord that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine. When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.
For I am the Lord thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee. Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life.” Isaiah 43:1-4
